How we work
Research methodology
We evaluate dog adventure gear using a documented, evidence-first process. Every claim we publish is traceable to a source, and the nature of each evaluation is stated plainly.
Two evaluation tiers
- Hands-On Verified. We obtained the product and documented real use — fit, field behavior, durability.
- Independent Research Review — Not Hands-On Tested. Compiled from manufacturer specifications, instruction manuals, retailer data, veterinary sources, and corroborating evidence. We do not invent first-person experience.
If a page does not explicitly state hands-on testing, assume it is a research review.
What every product page includes
- Product summary, best suited for, and poor fit for
- Verified specifications, sizing, and compatibility
- Important limitations and safety considerations
- Pros and cons, comparable alternatives, and current availability
- Research methodology, sources, and a last-verified date
Sourcing
Sources are labeled by type: manufacturer, manual, retailer, veterinary, government, or a permitted Amazon API. Medical and safety guidance uses conservative wording and cites veterinary or government sources rather than generated advice.
AI & editorial disclosure
Wag & Wander uses automated research and editorial systems to evaluate product specifications, compatibility, intended uses, documented limitations, and available alternatives. Unless explicitly stated, products have not been physically tested by Wag & Wander.
We do not create fictional dog trainers, veterinarians, hikers, or product testers as author personas.
