Best suited for

  • Day hikes, walks, and travel where a bowl that packs flat is more convenient than a rigid one
  • Owners who want to clip the bowl to a leash or pack so it's always with them

Poor fit for

  • Owners who prefer a self-contained water bottle over a bowl used with a separate bottle

Pros

  • Pops open and folds flat for storage, per Dexas
  • Quick-release clip attaches to leashes, belt loops, and packs
  • BPA-free and dishwasher safe
  • Several sizes from a small cup to a ~5-cup bowl

Cons

  • A bowl still needs a separate water source, unlike an all-in-one bottle

This is the simple one: a BPA-free silicone bowl that pops open for use and folds flat for storage, with a quick-release clip that rides on a leash, belt loop, or pack. Dexas builds it dishwasher-safe and sells it in several sizes, from a small ~8 oz cup to a large bowl holding about 5 cups.

The clip is what earns it a place in a kit. The bowl that is always on the leash is the bowl that is actually there when a creek appears, and at this price it can simply live there. It is a bowl, though, not a bottle: pair it with a water source, or look at an all-in-one like the H2O4K9 if you want the container and the bowl in a single object.

Dexas positions the Popware for travel, walks, and day hikes where a packable bowl beats a rigid one. Specs here come from the Dexas site and retail listings; we have not used one.

Sizing & compatibility

Multiple sizes (small ~8 oz up to large ~5 cups); ~7 in wide × 3 in tall open (large)

Fit depends on your dog's measurements. Measure girth (the widest part of the ribcage) and consult the manufacturer's size chart before buying — a poor fit can cause chafing or let an escape-prone dog back out of the harness.
